Rainbow Wahine in 17th at Kent Youel Invitational

KAPOLEI, Oahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished the first day of the Kent Youel Invitational in 17th place after carding a 645 total. The Rainbow Wahine improved on their first round score of 326 by seven shots, but were unable to move up in the standings.

Senior Laura DuLucia led Hawai'i with a 157 total. Despite a second round 80, DuLucia still sits in a tie for 49th, with a chance to make a significant move in tomorrow's final round. Junior Megan McGuinness finished in a tie for 61st with a 160 total. Senior Bobbie Arakawa made the biggest improvement between rounds for the Rainbow Wahine, cutting nine-strokes off her disappointing first round score of 86 to finish with a 163 total.

The tournament, formerly known as the Rainbow Wahine Fall Golf Classic, boasted perfect conditions that were taken full advantage of by California, who stormed out to a 15-shot lead over UCLA. The Golden Bears' 581 total was a true team effort with four players finishing the day inside the Top-10. Sophia Sheridan led California as well as the rest of the field, by carding a one-under-par 143 total.
