Warriors Finish 17th in the Barona Collegiate Cup

LAKESIDE, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team had their best round of the Barona Collegiate Cup earlier today, carding a 295 in the final round. Unfortunately, they were unable to make a move as they finished in 17th place with an 894 total.

Sophomore Ben Douglas, who bounced back from a disappointing second round with an even par 72, led the Warriours final round effort. Douglas finished the tournament tied for 39th with a 219 total. Junior Manarii Gauthier was four shots back in a tie for 61st.

Host San Diego State grabbed the team title from first day leader Denver, shooting a 281 to finish with an 846 total. The Aztecs' John Lepak tied for the individual title with California's Peter Tomasulo. Both golfers carded nine-under-par totals of 206.

Hawai`i will next tee it up when they host the UH/Turtle Bay Classic, Oct. 28-29, to close out the fall season. Junior Matt Kodama will be on hand to defend his individual title.
