BOISE, Idaho – The Wahine were outshot, 17-to-10, and surrendered an own goal in dropping their Western Athletic Conference match at Boise State, 3-0, at the Simplot Sports Complex.
The Broncos netted their first goal at 22:28, when a Wahine defender made a long run onto a Boise State corner kick, and misdirected into the net. The Hawaii defender was running with a streaking Broncos attacker and was attempting to clear the ball from the goal mouth.
Two more late goals at 73:07 and 85:36 iced the contest for the Broncos, who edged a bit closer to earning a WAC Tournament berth with their third league win. The six teams with the best league records will qualify for the tourney. There are nine WAC women's soccer teams.
The Wahine began with a flurry, playing on the Broncos' half of the field for the first 10 minutes or so. Hawaii midfielder Wanette Miyashiro fired-off a pair of quality shots during that span, but was unlucky on both attempts.
Hawaii senior defender Carmel Hurley gave her team some valuable attacks, making runs from the defensive third of the field to put pressure on the Boise State defense.
Starting defender Liz Lusk was injured on Boise State's final score. Lusk tripped and landed on her shoulder, and was removed from the contest. Her status is day-to-day.
The Wahine will continue their fourth and final regular-season road trip of the year by moving over the Nevada, where they are schedule to face the Wolf Pack at 1:00 p.m. in Reno.
