Elliot Ptasnik joined the University of Hawai‘i swimming staff in September of 2016 and was named head coach in May 2019. He has been a part of four consecutive women’s MPSF Championships (2017-20) and back-to-back men’s MPSF Championships (2019 & 2020).

Coaching Highlights
  • First year as head coach won both the men’s and women’s MPSF Championships in 2020.
  • Serving as an assistant and head coach he has been a part of four consecutive MPSF women’s championships and back-to-back MPSF men’s championships.
  • Over the course of four seasons (2017-20) coached three All-Americans and three All-American Honorable mentions. 
  • Named both the MPSF Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year in 2020. 
  • Coached a total of seven MPSF swimmers of the year.
  • Tallied 192 All-MPSF men’s swimmers and 191 All-MPSF women’s swimmers. 
  • A total of 93 All-MPSF All-Academic team members. 
  • Coached two MPSF Freshmen of the Year winners.

Other Highlights
  • Member of Team AE - Trained, prepared and led international travel for Olympian Anthony Ervin, leading to two gold medals in the 2016 Rio Olympics
  • Also coached olympians Brett Fraser of the Cayman Islands, and Kim Vandenberg of the U.S. 
  • Director of Imagine Swimming, a swim lesson program in New York City of 4000+ swimmers
  • Served as Chairman of Metropolitan Swimming and Imagine Swimming's diversity and inclusion campaigns, which taught thousands of children from low-income families across the New York City Area how to swim. 
  • Conducted high performance swim clinics throughout the US, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, China, Taiwan and Thailand.
