HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team received their 2007 Western Athletic Conference Championship rings, Wednesday night.
Head coach Greg McMackin and his coaching staff presented the rings to approximately 75 student-athletes, which included all-WAC stars Mike Lafaele, Myron Newberry, David Veikune, and Dan Kelly.
The all-silver ring, designed by McMackin, features the words "WAC Champions" and "Sugar Bowl" on the front. One side has a depiction of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach with the words "Hawaii," "12-0," and "Believe." The other side features the name of the ring owner, their jersey number, the UH helmet and the words "Warrior Ohana."
The Warriors captured the program's first outright WAC championship in 2007 and capped an undefeated 12-0 regular season with a trip to the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
