Rich Sheriff

Richard Sheriff joined the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department in January 1993.
 
Sheriff currently holds the position of Manager of SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center since June 1994. In his role, Sheriff is responsible for all day-to-day facility operations as well as event set-up, breakdown and event management. Sheriff oversees all capital improvement projects in the SSC, a $50+ million multi-purpose facility and the home of UH’s men’s and women’s volleyball and basketball programs.
 
The SSC has hosted numerous events over its first quarter century including the 1998 and 2004 NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship, 1999 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship, 2000 Men’s and Women’s USA Olympic basketball team exhibition games, USA Gymnastics team events, the 1998 Miss Universe Pageant, numerous Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clipper preseason NBA training camps and exhibition games as well as many NCAA Tournament volleyball matches, during Sheriff’s tenure. Sheriff also negotiated a $500,000 rental fee to host the 2007 Toyota National Dealers sales meeting at the SSC.
 
Sheriff previously worked as the Director of Football Operations for the University of Hawai‘i from January 1993 to May 1994

Prior to joining UH Athletics, Sheriff was the wide receiver coach at Cal State Fullerton from June 1987 to December 1992
 
Sheriff played quarterback for UH from 1983-85 before transferring to Cal State Fullerton, where he played quarterback from1985-87 and appeared in 25 straight games.
 
Sheriff was an all-state quarterback at Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa where he led the state of Iowa 5A Division in passing yards and total offense his senior season.
 
The Cedar Falls, Iowa native earned his degree in business administration and economics from Cal State Fullerton in 1987.
 
Sheriff is a member of AFCA. He and his wife Lee Ann live in Honolulu and have one son Kainui, who currently attends Washington State University.
