Chris Love returns for his second year with the Rainbow Wahine water polo program as a volunteer assistant in charge of scouting and film breakdown.
Love, a graduate of Brigham Young-Hawai‘i in La‘ie, O‘ahu, has coached at the high school level for the past three seasons. He was an assistant coach for the Pac-5 boy’s team from 2006-07 as well as the Kamehameha School’s Intermediate girls’ team in 2007. Most recently, Love was the head coach for the Mililani High School girls’ varsity team in 2008.
A driver for BYUH from 2002-05, Love started his collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts following graduation from Kahuku High School.
At Kahuku, Love lettered in water polo and tennis for four years, three years in swimming and one year in soccer. In water polo, he was a two-time O‘ahu Interscholastic Association Most Valuable Player and three-time all-OIA selection.
Love, who was born in Lawton, Okla., earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise sports science with an emphasis in coaching from BYUH in 2007. He is currently a lifeguard for the City and County of Honolulu.
He and his wife Noelani, have one son, Aukai and reside on the North Shore.
