Former Rainbow Wahine great Ari Homayun officially joined the 2020 beach volleyball coaching staff as a volunteer coach in September 2019.
 
Homayun  graduated from UH in May 2019 after enjoying a decorated four-year career as a SandBow. She finished as UH's all-time leader in overall (118) and dual (115) match wins and was a multiple all-Big West, AVCA Top Flight Award, and academic all-Big West honoree.
 
As volunteer coach she assists with player development and in-match coaching, while also focusing on the team's defensive efforts. Homayun replaces veteran volunteer coach Danny Alvarez who is taking a hiatus due to family reasons after being with the program since it's inception since 2012.
 
"We're really happy to have Ari back with the program," Hall said. "Her transition to coaching will be a smooth one. She has the mental makeup of a coach and has been that way since the moment she stepped on campus at Manoa.  She's our all-time winningest player for a reason and with her natural leadership skills, she should make an immediate impact for us as a coach."

Homayn added: "I feel incredibly fortunate for this opportunity. Playing for Hawai'i was a dream come true for me and now that I'm able to continue to be here as a coach means the dream lives on. I really look forward to working with this year's team."
