Locke joined coach Laura Beeman’s staff in June of 2017 after spending the previous three seasons as the associate head coach at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. At Lipscomb, Locke oversaw recruiting operations, opponent scouting, scheduling and worked with guard development and defensive game plans.

Locke’s 11-year collegiate coaching career also includes stops at the University of Central Florida (2008-11, 2012-14), UC Santa Barbara (2011-12) where she helped the Gauchos to the 2012 NCAA tournament, and the University of Texas at San Antonio (2006-08), where she helped the Roadrunners reach the 2008 NCAA tournament.

“I’m thrilled to join Coach Beeman,” Locke said. “The success that she’s had and the culture that she’s built here is phenomenal. I’m ready to learn and grow from her as a coach and be invested in these players. I know that they’re special. The one thing I’ve heard about from Coach Beeman from day one is how special this group can be. I’m ready to dive in and help grow them on and off the court and get us to a championship level.”

“Between her playing experience, her coaching experience at Division I, her values and morals, her philosophy on how she wants to teach these kids, it was a very easy decision,” Beeman said of adding Locke to her staff. Courtney has great recruiting ties obviously on the east coach but also in Texas and the mid-west. She knows how to recruit, how to brand the program, and has a plan walking in the door. Her experience and knowledge in recruiting is huge.”

In addition to her coaching achievements, Locke played for the Rutgers women’s basketball team from 2002-06 where she played in 126 games for Vivian Stringer and helped the Scarlet Knights go 27-5 overall and 16-0 in the Big East and reach the Sweet 16 in 2005-06.
