Jason Salmeri is in his second season as a part of the Warrior volleyball staff. He is involved in recruiting, weight training and coaching the middle blockers.
He lettered for the Warriors for two seasons in 1997 and '98, earning all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honorable mention his senior season.
Following his collegiate career, Salmeri spent six-and-a-half years playing professionally in Europe.
He spent the 1998-1999 season in Israel and the next two years in Spain. During the next three-and-a-half years, he had stops in Germany, Spain, Puerto Rico, France and back to Puerto Rico where an injury halted his pro career. Among his accomplishments professionally, Salmeri garnered Most Valuable Player honors in 2003 while in Puerto Rico after setting the league record in both kills and points.
He earned his bachelor's degree in communication form the University of Hawai`i in 2002. Before taking on the coaching job at UH, he was working as a loan officer at a bank.
Salmeri, who was born in Connecticut, grew up in King George, Va., where he earned a letters in soccer, cross country, track and volleyball at King George High School.
