SERIES INFORMATION
  • Hawai‘i now leads the all-time series 6-1, including a 5-1 advantage in Honolulu.
  • UH improved 3-0 against PSU in Homecoming Games (also wins in 1976 and ‘77).

UH VERSUS THE FCS
  • UH has won its last 24 games against FCS opponents dating back to 2001
  • UH’s last loss against an FCS team was the 2000 season opener to Portland State, 45-20.
  • UH is now 29-5 all-time record against current members of the Big Sky Conference.

TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • UH’s current four-game home win streak is its longest at Ching Complex since moving into the facility in 2021.
  • Hawai‘i has won seven of its last eight nonconference home games dating back to 2023, including each of its last four.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • Pofele Ashlock has caught a pass in all 28 games he has played in.
  • After a trio of field goals versus Portland State, Kansei Matsuzawa has started the season with 11 straight field goals made. He is also a perfect 8-of-8 on PATs.

TEAM NOTES
  • UH’s 3-1 start is its best start under Timmy Chang and the best since the 2019 squad that started the year 4-1.
  • The UH defense held Portland State without a touchdown. The last time UH did not allow an opponent to score a touchdown was in 2019 (at Nevada, 54-3).
  • UH held Portland State to opponent season lows in total yards (230) and rushing yards (41).
  • The UH defense held its third straight opponent under 200 yards passing as Portland State finished with 189 yards. UH opponents are averaging just 154.5 yards passing through the first four games. 
  • For the first time this season, the UH offense went turnover free. The Rainbow Warriors committed eight turnovers in the previous three games. 
  • UH also won the turnover battle (+1) for the first time this season.
  • UH had a season high 13 penalties for 138 yards. 
  • UH punted the ball a season-high six times.
  • UH improved to 43-30-1 (.588) all-time in Homecoming Games.
  • Timmy Chang has a 5-0 career record against FCS opponents.
  • Chang now has a 14-10 home record at Ching Complex including a 8-4 mark against non-conference opponents.
  • UH improved to 18-12 all-time at Ching Complex. 

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Cam Barfield scored his first career touchdown as a Rainbow Warriors with a 16-yard catch from Luke Weaver early in the second quarter. 
  • Barfield added another TD catch, a 31-yarder, on UH’s next possession for UH’s longest offensive touchdown of the season thus far.
  • Junior wide receiver Max Ware made his first career start. He caught UH’s first pass of the night and finished with three catches for 33 yards.
  • Elijah Palmer recorded his first interception of the year and the fourth of his career on a first quarter pick of John-Keawe Sagapolutele.
  • Palmer also finished with a team-high seven tackles, which tied a career high. 
  • Jamar Sekona picked up his first sack of the season with a take second-quarter takedown of Sagapolutele
  • Kansei Matsuzawa exceeded his career long twice when he nailed a 44 yard field goal on UH’s opening drive of the second half, followed by a 47-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. 
  • Matsuzawa tied his career-high with three field goals made, which he also did in last week’s win over Sam Houston.
  • After missing the first two games of the season and coming off the bench in the last game, Kuao Peihopa made his first start of the season at right guard. He entered the year having made 25 straight starts.
  • Karsyn Pupunu finished with a career best five receptions (40 yards).
