Les Murakami Stadium

Les Murakami Stadium

Widely regarded as one of the finest collegiate ballparks in the nation, Les Murakami Stadium has been the home of Hawai'i baseball since 1984. The 4,312-seat facility is named after legendary Rainbow skipper Les Murakami and has undergone numerous renovations over the years, most recently the installation of brand new field turf prior to the 2025 season.

PARTY AT “THE LES”

Les Murakami Stadium vs. UCSB

Since its opening, Les Murakami Stadium has housed hundreds of sellouts while providing the stage for countless moments of “Manoa Magic.” Over the years, "The Les" has become the premier college baseball atmosphere in the West and remained one of the best in the nation, ranking among the country's leaders in attendance year-in, year-out.

A TIMELESS VENUE

The stadium was first built in 1984 as Rainbow Stadium. With the success of his teams of the late 1970s and early 1980s, head coach Les Murakami led a charge to build a facility that could accommodate the droves of fans he foresaw attending games on campus. With the help of political backers at the State Capitol, the state appropriated funding for the project, which took less than nine months to complete before its debut on Feb. 17, 1984 for UH's game vs. Southern California.

The venue has evolved over the years and in 2001, was renamed Les Murakami Stadium after the man responsible for its building. Murakami was the school’s first full-time head coach. Not only did he turn the program into an NCAA Division I team that consistently competed on a national level for much of his tenure, but he was also largely responsible for the building of the stadium that is now affectionately known as “the house that Les built.”

In the middle of the upper section is the two-tiered press box, named the Robbs Leahey Press Box in 2024 after legendary broadcasters Don Robbs and Jim Leahey who each called hundreds of games from their perches in the radio and TV booths, respectively.

The stadium contains two sunken dugouts with separate locker room facilities. There is also a hospitality room, meeting room, locker room for umpires, and lounge for UH players.
