SERIES INFORMATION
  • Hawaii trimmed Fresno State’s lead in the all-time series 30-25-1.
  • UH earned its fourth win in 12 matchups since both teams joined the Mountain West in 2012.  Fresno State had won  four of the previous  six meetings in Fresno, Calif..
  • Hawai‘i has won three of the last four at Valley Children’s Stadium (formerly Bulldog Stadium) with wins in 2016 (14-13), 2020 (34-19) and again on Saturday. The Bulldogs’ two wins during that span were by 30+ points.
 
UH VERSUS THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • UH is 33-67 (.333) all-time in the MW, including 14-35 (.271) on the road.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH is 2-14 on the road under Timmy Chang, including 1-3 this season.
  • UH is now 2-8 in Mountain West road games under Timmy Chang.
  • UH picked up its previous road win at Nevada on Nov. 4, 2023 and earned another 364 days later.
  • Head coach Timmy Chang has a 5-4 record in the month of November, including 3-1 last season. It is the most wins in any month for Chang.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS
  • Brayden Schager extended his school-record streak of 31 straight starts at quarterback, a streak that dates back to 2022.
  • Sophomore receiver Pofele Ashlock has caught a pass in all 21 games he has played in during his career.  He extended the streak with a 5-yard touchdown reception on the game’s opening possession.
 
TEAM NOTES
  • UH’s 13-point fourth-quarter comeback is its largest since erasing a 14-point deficit against Fresno State at home on Oct. 2, 2021.
  • Fresno State’s 20 points were the fewest allowed by UH on the road this season. The Warriors had allowed an average of 33.3 points in their previous three road games.
  • Under head coach Timmy Chang, UH is 12-9 when scoring more than 17 points.
  • The UH defense allowed 19 rushing yards, the fewest since holding South Alabama to 18 on Dec. 1, 2012.
  • The Warriors held Fresno State to minus-16 rushing yards in the second half.
  • UH rushed for 102 yards, breaking the century mark for the third straight game since being held to 15 in a loss to Boise State on Oct. 12.
  • The Warrior defense held Fresno State to 176 yards of offense, the fewest given up by a UH team since Sept. 22, 2018 vs. Duquesne (166 yards).
  • After allowing touchdowns on the first two FS drives, UH forced seven straight punts before the final Bulldog drive of the game in which the clock expired.
  • The defense held the Bulldogs to just 67 yards in the second half, 39 of which came on the final drive that started with 11 seconds remaining.
  • The Warriors finished with four sacks and 10 tackles for loss, marking the second time UH has had four-plus sacks in a game and third time it has had double-digit TFLs.
  • UH scored on its opening drive for the third straight game and reached the end zone for the second consecutive game and third time this season.
  • UH surrendered a touchdown on an opponent’s opening drive for the second time this season and the first time since the game at Sam Houston on Sept. 14.
  • UH allowed a defensive touchdown for the first time this season on Fresno State’s Phoenix Jackson’s 89-yard interception return in the third quarter. UH last gave up an interception return for a touchdown against San Diego State on Oct. 14, 2023.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Wide receiver Nick Cenacle set career highs with 12 receptions and 113 yards and matched his previous best with two touchdown receptions. He moved into a tie for the team lead with five touchdown receptions.
  • He is the first UH player to have 12-plus catches and over 100 yards receiving in a game since Cedric Byrd II vs. Arizona on Aug. 24, 2019.
  • Cenacle turned in a monster fourth quarter, catching nine passes for 100 yards and two TDs in the final period.
  • Brayden Schager has 35 career starts. Schager tied Colt Brennan for No. 2 all-time among QBs in school history. The UH record is 50 starts by Timmy Chang.
  • Schager passed Cole McDonald for No. 4 all-time on the UH career total offense chart, finishing the game with 259 yards of offense to give him 8,976 for his career.
  • Schager led a game-winning drive in the final minute of regulation for the third time in his career.
  • Cam Stone’s PAT block in the second quarter that ended up being the difference in the game was UH’s first blocked extra point since Nov. 21, 2020 vs. Boise State (Jonah Laulu).
  • Elijah Robinson finished with two sacks and three TFLs, his second game this year with multiple sacks and three-plus tackles for loss.
  • Devyn King led the team with a career-high six tackles in his second consecutive start.
  • Daniel “Sauce” Williams came up with his first career sack while also turning in his first career multi-TFL game, finishing with two.
