GAME INFORMATION
  • Prior to tonight’s game, a pule (prayer) was conducted as part of a state-wide vigil, honoring the victims of the Maui wildfires.
 
SERIES INFORMATION
  • Stanford leads the series, 4-0, with all meetings held in Honolulu.
  • The teams will meet three more times over the next seven years.
  • UH will host the Cardinal again in 2025 before making its first-ever trip to Palo Alto in 2026. The teams will also play in California in 2030.
 
UH VERSUS THE PAC-12
  • Hawai‘i fell to 32-65 (.329) against current members of the Pac-12 conference
  • UH suffered its first loss in its last four home games against the Pac-12. UH had previously defeated Oregon State and Arizona in 2019 and Colorado in 2015.
  • UH dropped to 4-15 in its last 19 games versus Pac-12 opponents since 2010.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • UH dropped its home opener for the second straight season. Prior to 2022, UH had won six straight home openers.
  • UH has lost eight games on national television dating back to 2021. Its last win was at home against Fresno State in 2021 on CBS Sports Network.
 
INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • DT John Tuitupou made his 15th consecutive start and QB Brayden Schager made his 11th consecutive start.
  • Schager threw a touchdown pass for the 11th consecutive game.

TEAM NOTES
  • UH fell to 1-3 against non-conference opponents at home since the start of 2022.
  • Ten different Rainbow Warriors caught a pass on the evening.
  • UH hosted a non-Saturday home game for the first time since that 2015 season-opener against Colorado.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Brayden Schager threw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns for the second straight game
  • Schager finished 30-of-53 for 355 yards and three scores and set new career highs in yards, completions, attempts and matched a career-high in touchdowns.
  • Schager is the first UH quarterback to throw for over 350 yards in consecutive games since 2019 (Cole McDonald vs. Arizona and Oregon State).
  • It was also the most completions by a UH QB since 2020 (33, Chevan Cordeiro vs. New Mexico, 11/7/20).
  • Pofele Ashlock had his second consecutive 100 yard receiving game after finishing with a team-best eight catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Ashlock is the first Warrior player to surpass 100 yards receiving in the first two games of a season since 2018 (John Ursua at Colorado State, vs. Navy).
  • Steven McBride scored for the second straight week when he scored on a 24-yard catch in the fourth quarter.
  • McBride and Ashlock have combined for all six of the team’s receiving touchdowns through the first two games.
  • Koali Nishigaya set new career highs in receptions (6) and receiving yards (52).
  • Matthew Shipley attempted his first field goal the season, connecting on a 32-yard attempt as the first half expired.
  • Shipley moved into a tie for fourth all-time with Tyler Hadden with 43 career field goals made at UH. He is now just two behind Dan Kelly for third all-time.
  • Shipley also climbed into sixth all-time at UH in career scoring with 229 points, passing Michael Carter and Chad Owens. 
  • Solo Vaipulu had his first career carry for four yards in the third quarter. 
  • Logan Taylor had a team high nine tackles for UH. He has led the team in tackling in six of the last seven games dating back to last year.
  • Three players made their first career starts as Rainbow Warriors – LT Luke Felix-Fualalo, WR Karsyn Pupunu and NB Elijah Palmer.
  • Pupunu made his first career catch late in the second quarter, coming off a deflected pass. The 33-yard catch set up a UH field goal to end the half.
  • Palmer also had a strong showing, finishing second on the team with seven tackles
