2022 HAWAI'I BEACH VOLLEYBALL

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

• Under interim head coach Evan Silberstein, the Rainbow Wahine returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years and made their fifth appearance overall with an at-large bid.

• The BeachBows played a full schedule for the first time since 2019 and finished the year with a 24-17 mark after falling to No. 4 Loyola Marymount in the NCAA opening round. 

• UH climbed to as high as a eighth in the national rankings before finishing 13th in the final AVCA poll. The BeachBows have been ranked every single week since the poll's inception in 2013, a string of 89 straight appearances.

• UH captured the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash., and also had the top record in the Big West Challenge in Long Beach, Calif. 

• UH advanced to the title match of the Big West Tournament for the sixth straight time.

• Kaylee Glagau and Brooke Van Sickle won a team-best 30 matches on the season en route to a spot on the All-America first team.

• Four different pairs earned all-Big West honors, including Glagau and Van Sickle who were named the conference's Pair of the Year, while Evan Silberstein was named Co-Coach of the Year.

• Van Sickle joined Emily Maglio as the only players to earn All-American honors in both indoor and beach volleyball in the same academic year.

QUEENS OF THE BEACH

UH played its first matches in nearly two years at world-famous Queen's Beach in Waikiki when the 'Bows hosted the season-opening Heineken Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic in late February.

BACK TO 'BAMA

The BeachBows made their way back to Gulf Shores, Ala., earning an at-large bid into the newly expanded 16-team NCAA Tournament field. It was the fifth NCAA bid in six tries for the 'Bows who ultimately fell to No. 4 Loyola Marymount in the opening round.
