MEMORABLE MOMENT

The Rainbow Warriors battled but fell short at the MPSF Championships, finishing third overall and notching the program's fourth consecutive finish in the top three.

A LEGEND RETIRES

After 40 years as an elite diving coach, 22 of those at the University of Hawai‘i, legend Mike Brown decided to step down as the head diving coach in December to end his tenure. Since taking over in 2000, Brown has been named the women's conference coach of the year 16 times and the men's conference coach of the year seven times, spanning over stints in Conference USA, the Western Athletic Conference, and the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. At the same time, he produced eight All-Americans who garnered 18 All-America certificates.

"There are so many people at UH who I greatly appreciate for their help and support over my 22 years here. The person who has made this possible by her compassion, love, and coaching genius is my wife, Anita Rossing, who has worked with me most every day as my UH Diving co-coach. Anita and I have succeeded so often with our divers' performances, the conference championships, the 29 appearances at the NCAA National Championships and the two NCAA Individual Diving titles."

NEW BEGINNINGS

Putting a wrap on the 2021-2022 campaign and looking ahead, UH announced Michael Stephens as the program's new head coach, bringing a reputation of success from Boston College.

"I am honored to be named the head coach of the swimming and diving program at the University of Hawai'i. Thank you to David Matlin and the search committee for their trust in me to lead this team. I'm excited to join a department and a community with a set of values that align closely with me and my coaching philosophy. I'm grateful for the opportunity to live and work in a place with a rich swimming history and to lead a program that is positioned to develop elite student-athletes. I am confident that together we can achieve at the highest level and I can't wait to get started."
