2021-22 HAWAI‘I MEN'S GOLF 

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

• Opened the Scott Simpson era with a win at the HPU Sharks Shootout in ‘Aiea, O‘ahu

• The team’s top three scorers were freshmen – Tyler Ogawa (74.4), Atsuya Oishi (75.1), and Pierce Braun (76.2)

• Season-best 54-hole score of 865 at the GCU Invitational, where they finished in 13th place among the 23-team field

• Improved 18-hole scoring average by 6.2 strokes compared to last year

• Ogawa was the team leader in five of 10 events 

• Braun tied for 10th place in the Big West Championship with a 1-over 217 total

• Ratio Visuttipinate carded the low round of the season with a 5-under 67 at the Amer Ari Invitational while senior Kanta Irei, who completed his eligibility after the fall season, had the low 54-hole total of 4-under 209 at the Ka‘anapali Classic Collegiate 

• Hosted three tournaments – Hoakalei CC Invitational, Ka‘anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, and John A. Burns Intercollegiate – and co-hosted a fourth – Amer Ari Invitational with UH-Hilo

• Simpson, a 27-year PGA Tour veteran and U.S. Open champion, completed his first season as head coach of the Rainbow Warriors
