SERIES INFORMATION
  • San Diego State improved to 24-11-2 in the overall series.
  • The Aztecs have won 18 of the last 22 in the series, including 10 of the last 11 at home.
  • Hawai‘i has lost three consecutive in the series after winning back-to-back games against SDSU in 2018 and ’19.
  • Four of the last five meetings have been decided by seven points or less.
  • The Aztecs have won nine of the 11 match-ups since the teams have met as Mountain West rivals from 2012.
  • UH made its first-ever appearance in Snapdragon Stadium.
 
UH IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
  • UH is 5-6 in Mountain West openers since joining the league in 2012, including a 3-4 mark in MW openers on the road.
  • Hawai‘i began its 11th season in the Mountain West and now owns a 26-55 (.320) all-time mark, including 12-28 on the road.
  • Since the conference moved to two divisions in 2013, UH is 14-27 against the West.
 
TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS  
  • UH lost its first MW opener on the road since 2017 at Wyoming. UH had won its previous three MW openers on the road (2018, ’19, ’20).
  • UH looked to go turnover free for its third straight road this season, but committed a fumble on the final play of the game on a desperation lateral.

INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS 
  • Blessman Ta‘ala has played in 57 consecutive games since arriving at UH in 2018.
  • Ilm Manning has started 53 of 55 career games and 17 straight games dating back to 2018.

TEAM NOTES
  • UH limited SDSU to just three points in the first half, the lowest output by a UH opponent this year.
  • UH was shutout in the first half for the second time this season (at Michigan).
  • UH held SDSU to 95 yards rushing, nearly 100 yards under its average.
  • UH fell by two points after entering the game having lost by an average of 32.5 points in its previous two road games.
  • UH had a season high 6.0 tackles-for-loss. The previous high was 5.0 versus Duquesne.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Dedrick Parson has scored in five of six games this year after his 22-yard run in the fourth quarter. He now has a team-leading seven rushing touchdowns on the year.
  • Zion Bowens returned to lineup for the first time since the season opener versus Vanderbilt and finished with a career-high nine catches for 108 yards and a touchdown
  • It was the second career 100-yard game for Bowens.
  • Bowens’ 66-yard touchdown catch from Brayden Schager in the third quarter was UH’s longest play from scrimmage this year. It was also the longest career pass for Schager.  
  • Chuuky Hines also returned to the lineup after missing consecutive games. He returned five kickoffs for 93 yards and was targeted twice, but did not make any receptions.
  • Koali Nishigaya saw his first action of the season and had three catches for 36 yards.
  • Three players made their first career starts on defense for UH: DE Andrew Choi, LB Noah Kema, and DB Peter Manuma.
  • Manuma finished with a game-high and a career-high 10 tackles. Choi had three tackles, while Kema had two tackles.
  • Tariq Jones recorded his first career sack with a second-quarter takedown of Jalen Mayden.
  • Matthew Shipley recorded a career-long 59-yard punt in the first quarter.
