Sept. 25, 2021
Aggie Memorial Stadium – Las Cruces, N.M.

SERIES INFORMATION
  • The teams met for the first time since 2011 when UH defeated NMSU in Honolulu in a Western Athletic Conference matchup.
  • UH improved to 9-0 all-time overall against the Aggies and 4-0 all-time in Las Cruces.
  • UH has scored 40 points or more in seven of the nine meetings and have averaged 43.8 points per game in the series.
  • UH has won all four meetings in Las Cruces and has averaged 47.8 points in those wins.
  • The teams will meet again Oct. 23 in Honolulu as part of a rare, in-season home-and-home series.

TEAM STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH picked up just its second win in its last 21 non-conference road games dating back to 2010. It's only other win during that stretch was at UMass to open the 2017 season.
  • UH snapped a four-game losing streak in (true) road games dating back to last season. Under head coach Todd Graham, UH is 3-4 in road/neutral site games.

INDIVIDUAL STREAKS/TRENDS
  • Senior receiver Jared Smart has caught a ball in all 29 games he has played in at UH. It’s ranked in the top 10 nationally in terms of active streaks.
  • Wide receiver Nick Mardner has led the team in receiving yards in each of the past four games and has 19 catches for 424 yards in that span.

TEAM NOTES
  • The Warriors recorded season-highs in sacks (4) and tackles-for-loss (9).
  • The Warriors have forced multiple turnovers in three of five games this year after forcing three turnovers (two fumbles, one interception) against the Aggies.
  • UH scored a defensive touchdown for the first time under Todd Graham when Quentin Frazier deflected a NMSU backward pass, which was recovered by Cameron Lockridge for a 5-yard return in the second quarter.
  • It was UH’s first fumble recovery for a touchdown in four years (last by Solomon Matautia vs BYU in 2017).
  • UH’s 74-yard scoring connection between Chevan Cordeiro and Nick Mardner was the team’s longest play from scrimmage this year.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Nick Mardner went over 100 receiving yards for the second time in the last three games and for the third time in his career with 120 yards and a touchdown on four catches.
  • Mardner’s 74-yard scoring catch on the first play from scrimmage was a career-long. The junior is averaging a team-best 20.9 yards per catch this season.
  • Chevan Cordeiro scored his first rushing touchdown of the season and 11th of his career on a 1-yard plunge in the third quarter.
  • Cordeiro’s 35-yard rush in the second quarter was his longest of the season.
  • Cordeiro is 64 yards away from 1,000 career rushing yards. When he reaches that mark, he will become just the third UH signal caller joining Michael Carter and Glenn Freitas to reach that mark.
  • Calvin Turner Jr. has scored in each of the last four games and has six touchdowns total this season after his highlight reel 14-yard scoring rush in the fourth quarter.
  • Dedrick Parson set season-highs with a team-best 89 yards rushing on 11 carries, including a 19-yard run to cap the UH scoring.
  • Matthew Shipley nailed multiple field goals for the second straight game, making good on attempts of 25 and 41 yards. Shipley is 5-of-6 on field goals this season.
  • Darius Muasau  tied his season high with 11 tackles, including 3.0 tackles-for-loss and two sacks.
  • Cam Lockridge snagged his first interception of the season and second of his career to snuff New Mexico State’s final drive of the game.
