2021 RAINBOW WAHINE SOFTBALL SEASON HIGHLIGHTS The Rainbow Wahine finished the season with a 12-19 overall record and an 11-13 mark in conference play. The ‘Bows started the conference schedule by winning four of their first five series and remained in the top three of the Big West standings until their second-to-last series of the season. Junior shortstop Nawai Kaupe earned a spot on the all-NFCA West Region third team after she led the team in multiple statistical categories. UH earned six Big West Conference end of the year honors, with five student-athletes being recognized for their play. Senior infielder Angelique “Cheeks” Ramos, junior center fielder Britnnee Rossi, freshman utility player Maya Nakamura, and Kaupe were all named all-Big West second team. Nakamura was also named to the all-Freshman team, while sophomore first baseman Dallas Millwood was named an honorable mention. Kaupe proved to be the center point of the lineup as she led the team in several categories including home runs (6), runs (24), runs batted in (22), triples (3), slugging percentage (.591), and on-base plus slugging (.962). Millwood led the team in average, hitting .356 on the season, but saw limited action as a starter at the beginning of the season. When she stepped up as the starting first baseman beginning on April 9th, she hit .400 with seven extra base hits and 14 RBIs. PLAY BALLAfter a long wait, UH got back into the swing of things with a season-opening series against nationally-ranked Washington in early March at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
