2021 HAWAI'I BASEBALL SEASON HIGHLIGHTS Ranked 30th in the country by Collegiate Baseball News after winning 10-straight games over three weekends, the first time the 'Bows had been ranked since the opening week of 2011. Dustin Demeter was named National Player of the Week by two different national publications after driving in 14 runs with three home runs and 11 total hits in the Rainbow Warriors’ series win at Cal State Fullerton. Stone Miyao became the first freshman to win Big West Player of the Week honors since Adam Fogel did in 2017 when Miyao hit .500 with seven RBI and multiple hits in all four games of UH’s series sweep against UC Davis. Kole Kaler became the first Rainbow Warrior since 1996, and sixth all-time, to hit for the cycle when he did so at UC Riverside April 10. Kaler hit a single, triple, double and home run in that order. Jared Quandt became the second UH freshman since 1982 to hit a grand slam when the outfielder hit his first career home run against CSU Bakersfield on April 17. Dustin Demeter was named all-Big West first team as the conference’s top designated hitter in 2021. Cade Halemanu and Adam Fogel represented the Rainbow Warriors on the all-Big West second team, while Aaron Davenport was named all-Big West honorable mention. The Rainbow Warriors tested 940 times and were one of nine Big West teams without a COVID interruption during the season. PLAY BALLThe Rainbow Warrior baseball team played their first home games in early March and by the end of spring was the first UH program to allow fan attendance to watch competition in person since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Palmeira homered at Arizona State in the team's second game of the season.
