SERIES INFORMATION
  • This was the first meeting between the teams.
  • The teams will meet again in Honolulu in 2020.
 
STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH has won its last 16 games against FCS teams dating back to 2001. UH’s last loss to an FCS team was the 2000 season opener to Portland State, 45-20.
  • The Rainbow Warriors have out-scored their FCS opponents 741-276 during those 16 games with an average margin of victory of 29.0 points.
  • UH has won 11 of its last 12 non-conference home games.
  • UH is 7-1 in non-conference home games under Rolovich with its only loss against BYU to close out 2017.
  • UH is 8-0 under Nick Rolovich when scoring 40+ points and 19-0 including his tenure as UH offensive coordinator (2010-11). UH has scored 40+ points in four of five games this year.
  • Cole McDonald threw his first interception of the season and of his career when he was picked off in the end zone on UH’s opening drive. It broke a string of 154 career attempts and 145 attempts on the season without an interception.
  • The Warriors failed to score on the  opening possession for the first time this season when Cole McDonald’s pass was intercepted in the end zone during the game’s first drive.

TEAM NOTES
  • UH’s all-time record in Homecoming Games is now 39-29-1.
  • UH held Duquesne to just 166 yards of offense, the lowest output by an opponent since 2012 (166 yards, South Alabama). UH had a season-high 9.0 tackles-for-loss.
  • UH went 5-of-6 in the red zone vs. the Dukes and are 22-of-24 in the red zone this year.
  • UH has scored in 18 of 20 quarters this season.
  • UH wore the combo of green jerseys with black pants for the first since the 2004 season.
  • UH turned the ball over on each of its first two series after entering the game with just two turnovers all season.   
  • UH finished with 245 rushing yards, marking the 10th time that the Warriors have rushed for at least 200 yards under Nick Rolovich.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Junior running back Dayton Furuta cracked the century mark for the first time with a career high 114 yards rushing on 12 carries. Furuta’s previous career highs were seven carries and 35 yards vs. Colorado State.   
  • Cole McDonald threw five touchdown passes to four different receivers. McDonald has 20 touchdown passes on the year, the most ever by a UH quarterback through the first five games of the season.
  • McDonald finished with 273 yards on 24-of-40 passing, marking the first time this year that he did not eclipse 300 passing yards.
  • John Ursua caught touchdown passes of 25 and 7 yards and has scored multiple touchdowns in four of five games this year.
  • Ursua leads the team with 10 touchdowns this year (9 receiving, 1 rushing). His nine receiving touchdowns is tied with Kealoha Pilares (2010) for the most by a UH receiver through the first five games of the season.
  • Ursua has scored at least one touchdown in 10 of his last 11 games played.
  • John Ursua finished with 77 yards receiving on five catches, marking the first time this season that the junior has not eclipsed 100 receiving yards.
  • Senior receiver Dakota Torres scored a touchdown on his first reception of the season with a 1-yd connection with Cole McDonald in the fourth quarter.
  • Jahlani Tavai had a team-high 11 tackles and now has 355 tackles, surpassing David Dworsky (348) for third all-time at UH.
  • Senior receiver Tristin Kamaka and junior receiver Jason-Mathew Sharsh made their first career starts for the Warriors. Kamaka caught one pass for eight yards.
  • Sophomore Scheyenne Sanitoa made his first career start at linebacker and finished with six tackles, 2.0 TFLs and one sack.
  • Sanitoa  recorded his first careers sack against the Dukes, as did fellow linebacker Kana‘i Picanco.
  • Zach Wilson recorded his second pick of the season and of his career with an interception on Duquesne’s opening drive of the second half.
