SERIES INFORMATION
  • Hawai‘i regained possession of the Paniolo Trophy, given to the winning team since the trophy’s inception in 1979.
  • Wyoming still leads the series 14-10, though UH evened the record in Honolulu, 7-7.
  • It was just the second win by UH in the last nine meetings.
  • UH is 2-2 versus Wyoming in Mountain West games with each team holding court at home.  
 
STREAKS/TRENDS
  • UH is off to a 3-0 start in the Mountain West for the first time since joining the league in 2012.
  • UH is 4-0 at home this year, its best home start since 2007.
  • The Warriors failed to score on its opening possession for just the second time in seven games this year.
  • UH failed to score in the opening quarter for the first time this season. Wyoming led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.

TEAM NOTES
  • UH picked up its 200th all-time win at Aloha Stadium. The Rainbow Warriors are 200-138-4 in 43-plus seasons at the Halawa venue.
  • UH is 3-4 all-time in its first Mountain West home game of the season, including 2-1 under Nick Rolovich.
  • The six combined points was the lowest scoring first half involving UH since 2003 when Nevada led UH 6-0. The Warriors eventually lost that game 24-14.
  • Wyoming’s Carl Granderson returned an interception 61 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, the first defensive touchdown by an opponent this season and the first interception return for a touchdown by an opponent since UCLA last season.
  • The UH defense held Wyoming to 244 total yards, the lowest output by an FBS opponent this season.
  • UH won despite a season-low 304 yards of total offense.
  • UH went 1-for-2 in the red zone vs. the Cowboys and is 31-of-35 in the red zone this year.
  • UH tied a season-high with five sacks in the game.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES 
  • Chevan Cordeiro became the first true freshman to start at quarterback since Timmy Chang in 2000.
  • Cordeiro completed eight of his first nine attempts and finished 19-of-29 for 148 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
  • Cordeiro threw his first career touchdown to Cedric Byrd on a 5-yard pass late in the third quarter before throwing the game-winning 38- yard pass to JoJo Ward with 1:26 left in the game.
  • Junior Dayton Furuta earned his first career start at running back and finished with 101 yards on 16 carries.
  • It was the second time in the last three games that Furuta has cracked the century mark in rushing.
  • Junior defensive end Kaimana Padello recorded multiple sacks for the second straight game with 2.0 sacks. All three of his tackles were for a loss, while he also forced a fumble.  
  • Ryan Meskell drilled a career-long 39-yard field goal in the second quarter. The junior placekicker is 8-of-10 on field goals this season.  
  • Justice Augafa reeled off a career-long 41-yard punt return in the second quarter.
  • Penei Pavihi finished with a career high 10 tackles, his first game with double-digit tackles.
