SERIES INFORMATION
- Hawai‘i and UMass met for the first time on the football field.
- Tonight’s game was the first of a home-and-home series between the schools. The Rainbow Warriors will travel to Amherst, Mass., Oct. 7, 2017, which will mark the furthest east a UH football team will play a game in its history at more than 5,000 miles.
STREAKS/TRENDS
- UH has won its last six non-conference home games dating back to the 2014 season. Its last loss was against Oregon State, Sept. 8, 2014.
- Senior kicker Rigoberto Sanchez missed his first kick of the season on a PAT attempt in the fourth quarter. He was previously a perfect 54-of-54 on kicks this year (12-of-12 FGs, 42-of-42 PATs).
- UH has turned the ball over at least once in each game this season and in 22 straight dating back to last season.
- Dejon Allen made his 37th straight start, the longest streak on the offensive side of the ball.
TEAM NOTES
- UH’s six regular-season wins are the most since the Rainbow Warriors went 6-7 during the 2011 season. Nick Rolovich was the offensive coordinator on that team.
- UH’s 46 points was its highest output this season (previously 41 vs. UT Martin).
- A total of 20 seniors were honored following the game during the traditional Senior Walk.
- Following today’s conference results, UH (4-4) assured itself a second-place finish in the West Division of the Mountain West, the team’s highest ever finish since joining the league in 2012.
- UH scored an opening drive touchdown for just the second time this year (also vs. UT Martin) when Dru Brown found Dakota Torres for a 1-yd touchdown.
- UH blocked a kick for the second straight week when Trayvon Henderson blocked Mike Caggiano’s PAT attempt in the third quarter. It was the first blocked PAT for UH since Beau Yap at BYU in 2012.
- UH has four blocked kicks this season (2 FGs, 1 PAT, 1 punt).
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Sophomore quarterback Dru Brown threw a career high five touchdown passes. That total is the highest since Sean Schroeder tossed six TD passes in an overtime loss at Wyoming in 2013.
- Brown also finished with 311 yards passing, one yard shy of his career high and good for his second 300-yard performance this year (also at Air Force).
- Diocemy Saint Juste recorded his third 100-yard performance of the season and fourth of his career after finishing with 122 yards on 14 carries.
- The junior scored on a 40-yard rush in the fourth quarter, his first rushing touchdown since UH’s win over UT Martin on Sept. 10.
- In his first start of the season, sophomore Dylan Collie finished with three catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns. He scored multiple touchdowns in a game for the first time in his career with catches of 43- and 31-yards from Dru Brown.
- Senior Marcus Kemp scored his seventh touchdown of the year and 11th of this career on an 11-yard reception from Brown in the second quarter.
- Kemp finished the game with five catches for 43 yards to give him 1,037 yards on the season. He became UH’s first 1,000-yard receiver in the last five years (Royce Pollard, 2011) while it also marked the 19th time a UH receiver surpassed the single-season milestone.
- With 2,506 career receiving yards, Kemp surpassed Kealoha Pilares for ninth on the all-time UH list.
- Keelan Ewaliko scored his first career receiving touchdown on a 56-yard catch-and-run from Dru Brown in the fourth quarter that proved to be the game-winner. Ewaliko, who made his second career start, finished with career highs in catches (4) and yards (99).
- Makoa Camanse-Stevens tied his career-high with a team-high six catches.
- Damien Packer recovered his second fumble of the season after Jalen Rogers forced the ball from Jalen Williams in the second quarter.
- Ikaika Woolsey saw his first action at quarterback since UH’s game at Arizona on Sept. 17 when he relieved Dru Brown late in the second quarter for one play. Woolsey was sacked for a 10-yard loss on the play.
- Freshman Viane Moala made his first career start at defensive tackle and finished with one tackle.
- Sophomore Jahlani Tavai had his second multi-sack game of the season boosting his team-high total to seven this season.
