SERIES INFORMATION
- Hawai‘i and SJSU met for the 39th time and the 15th time in San Jose. UH evened the series 19-19-1, UH leads 8-6-1 in San José.
- The visitor has won each of the last four meetings. The last time the home team won was in 2011 when the Spartans pulled off a 28-27 win in California.
- UH has won seven of its last eight games at San José.
- UH moved to 6-28 all-time in the Mountain West and 2-14 in conference road games. The only other road win was at San José State, 13-0, in 2014.
STREAKS
- UH snapped a nine-game road losing streak and five-game conference road losing streak. The team’s last road win came at San Jose State in 2014.
- UH has won just for the second time in its last 17 conference road games.
- UH won away from Aloha Stadium for just the second time in the last 29 games.
- UH ended a string of four straight games of allowing a 100-yard rusher.
- Dejon Allen made his 30th straight start, the longest on the offensive side of the ball.
TEAM NOTES
- With its 34-17 win, UH has already matched its win total from last year (3-10) and is off to its first-ever 2-0 conference start since joining the Mountain West in 2012. The last time UH started 2-0 was 2010 when the Warriors won their first five WAC games en route to a share of the regular-season title.
- UH has won back-to-back games for the first time since 2014 (at San Jose State, vs. UNLV).
- UH won for just the second time in its last 16 day games dating back to 2012. The only other win during that stretch was at San José State in 2014.
- UH has turned the ball at least once in each game this season and in 15 straight games dating back to last season. The last time UH didn’t turn the ball over was at Wisconsin on Sept. 6, 2015.
- UH’s three interceptions were its most since picking off UNLV three times in the 2012.
- UH’s six sacks were its most since recording seven sacks in a season-opening win over Colorado in 2011.
- UH blocked a field goal for the first time since 2014 (Moses Samia, UNLV) when freshman defensive lineman Viane Moala blocked Bryce Crawford’s 50-yard attempt in the third quarter.
INDIVIDUAL PLAYER NOTES
- Dru Brown tossed for a career-high 287 yards and two touchdowns in his first career road start. He surpassed his previous high of 222 yards (last week vs. Nevada) in the first half alone (228 yards).
- Brown scored his second rushing touchdown of the season on a 62-yard run in the second quarter on a 4th-and-1 play. It was UH’s longest rush from scrimmage this year.
- Marcus Kemp finished with six catches for 69 yards and has led the team in receiving yards in every single game this season. With his 32-yard catch in the first quarter, he now has eight catches of 25 yards or more this season.
- Dylan Collie scored his first touchdown of the season and second of his career with a 24-yard catch from Brown that tied the game early in the second quarter.
- Jamal Mayo recorded his first career interception when he picked off Kenny Potter on a 1st-down play in the second quarter.
- Jalen Rogers also posted an interception in the second quarter, his second of the season and the fourth of his career.
- Trayvon Henderson recorded his first interception of the season and sixth of his career with a fourth quarter pick that helped set up a fourth-quarter UH touchdown.
- Steven Lakalaka has found the endzone in five of six games this year, including each of the last four contests. With his 30-yd rush in the fourth quarter he now has a team-high six touchdowns this season.
- Rigo Sanchez converted on field goals of 24- and 35-yards and is a perfect 5-of-5 on field goal attempts this year.
