  • This was the fifth meeting all-time between the teams and third in the last eight seasons. 
  • UH has lost nine of its last 10 meetings versus AP ranked squads dating back to 2008. UH dropped to 10-38 all-time record against nationally ranked teams, including 9-24 at home.
  • Hawai‘i dropped to 58-35-5 all-time in season openers, including the last three straight.
  • UH has dropped 16 straight nationally televised games dating back to 2011 and are 18-55-2 in 75 all-time appearances.
  • UH dropped to 29-56 all-time vs. current members of the Pac-12 conference.
  • Five players earned their first starts, three on offense and two on defense: Marcus Kemp (WR), Quinton Pedroza (WR), John Wa`a (OL) Simon Poti (LB) and Taz Stevenson (S).
  • Pedroza caught a team-high nine passes for 90 yards in his first game as a Rainbow Warrior.
  • In his first career game at UH, Poti recorded a sack in the fourth quarter for UH’s lone sack.
  • Taz Stevenson, a Washington transfer, tallied a team-high 10 tackles in his first game for UH.
  • UH gave up its least amount of points (17) and yards (336) since its win over South Alabama in the 2012 finale (23-7, 166 yards allowed)
  • Joey Iosefa finished with 143 yards and one touchdown on 30 carries. It was his 5th career 100-yard game and 4th in the last 5 games dating back to last year.
  • Redshirt freshman Ammon Barker’s first career reception went for 29 yards in the second quarter and was UH’s longest play from scrimmage.
  • UH did not commit a turnover against the Huskies. The last time UH did not commit a turnover was at Air Force on Nov. 12, 2012.
  • The last time UH shutout an opponent in the second half was a 41-7 win over San Jose State on Nov. 20., 2010
  • Tyler Hadden tied his career high with three field goals against South Alabama in 2012
  • Rick Blangiardi—general manager of HawaiiNow and a former UH football player and coach—served as the honorary captain. Lance Williams, Ne'Quan Phillips, Beau Yap and Moses Samia  served as team captains during the coin toss.
