UH-UNLV Post-Game Notes

Post-Game Notes
Hawaii vs. UNLV
Nov. 22, 2014

Twenty-two seniors participated in the traditional “Senior Walk” following Saturday’s game. The seniors were honored prior to kick-off.

It is the first time since the final two games of the 2012 season (UNLV and South Alabama) that UH has won two straight games. It also marks the first time since 2011 that Hawai`i won back-to-back conference games (WAC) when UH defeated New Mexico State and Idaho.

UH won its third Senior Night game in a row (2012 vs. South Alabama, 2013 vs. Army). UH has won four of its last five Senior Games.

UH continues to lead the all-time series vs. UNLV, 15-9, including a 10-2 advantage in Honolulu.

UH has won the last three games of the series at Aloha Stadium, including a 48-10 win in 2012. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak during head coach Norm Chow’s inaugural campaign.

The 37 points scored is the second most points scored this season. UH’s season-high was 38 points in a win over Wyoming (Oct. 11).

UH generated 578 yards of total offense (348 rushing, 230 passing), the highest total of the season

UH's 348 yards on the ground was the most since the Rainbow Warriors rushed for 360 yards against Utah State in 2009

UH running back Joey Iosefa became the ninth player in school history to reach 2,000 career rushing yards. He finished the game with a career-high 219 yards and now has 2,149. Iosefa now has six career 100-yard rushing games—including two this season.

Iosefa’s 219 yards against UNLV ranks him at sixth in school history for most rushing yards in a single game. The last rusher to reach over 200 yards in one game was Alex Green with 327-yards in 2010 against New Mexico State (11/27/2010).

Iosefa’s 45-yard rush in the second quarter was a career-long rush for the senior.

Iosefa’s 1-yard jump pass to Harold Moleni in the second quarter was his second career passing touchdown.

Marcus Kemp caught six passes for a career-high 114 yards and the game-winning touchdown as time expired.

Tyler Hadden converted a 40-yard field-goal attempt in the fourth quarter. He is now 3-of-4 from 40-plus yards this season. Hadden was also 4-for-4 in PATs and now has converted 108 career PATs which ranks him No. 4 in the UH record book.

Linebacker Julian Gener returned to the starting lineup after missing the last six games.

Scott Harding twice pinned the Rebels at their own 3-yard line, the 9th and 10th times this season that Harding’s punts have pinned an opponent inside the 3.

Devante Davis’ 81- yard reception from Jared Lebowitz in the first quarter tied for the second longest pass play by a UH opponent this season.

Marrell Jackson’s interception in the first quarter was his first of the season and third of his career.

Ikaika Woolsey’s 51-yard pass to Keelan Ewaliko in the first quarter marked the fourth longest pass-play from scrimmage of the season.

Moses Samia’s second quarter field goal block was Samia’s second blocked field goal in as many weeks and third block for UH in the past two games.

Ne’Quan Phillips recorded a career-high two sacks for a loss of 21 yards

UH rushed for a season-high 348 yards; it was the third time UH cracked 200-yards rushing as a team.

UH’s third quarter 94-yard scoring drive culminated with a 52-yard touchdown run by Diocemy Saint Juste, was the longest this season. It marked the second time in as many games that UH had a scoring drive of 90-yards or more. The 52-yard run was also a career-long for Saint Juste.

The honorary captains for the game were Chris and Maake Kemoeatu.

Kody Afusia, Scott Harding, Moses Samia, and Beau Yap served as today’s game’s team captains for the coin toss.  UNLV called tails and won the toss and deferred to the second half.
