  • UH dropped to 2-5 all-time against Rice. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Honolulu in 2018.
  • This was the team’s first non-conference meeting after playing six straight seasons (199-2004) as member of the Western Athletic Conference.
  • UH has lost 15 straight road games dating back to 2011. It’s last road win came at Idaho (16-14) on Oct. 29, 2011
  • UH has lost nine straight non-conference road games with its last win at Army (31-28) on Sept. 11, 2010.
  • UH is now just 3-16 in non-conference road games since 2002 with its only wins at UNLV (2007), Washington State (2009) and Army (2010).
  • The final 14-point margin was UH’s largest margin of defeat this year.
  • UH tallied season highs in sacks (4) and tackles-for-loss (8).
  • UH gave up 21 second-half points after having allowed just 21 second-half points combined in its previous four contests.
  • UH’s 261 yards of total offense was a season low (previous 286 at Colorado).
  • Moments after replacing an injured Julian Gener, Benetton Fonua recorded his first career interception when he picked off a Driphu Jackson attempt in the second quarter. Later in the quarter Fonua also posted his first career sack to take Rice out of field goal position.
  • Tyler Hadden’s streak of nine straight FGs made ended when he missed a 38-yard attempt in the second quarter.
  • UH is 0-4 following bye weeks under head coach Norm Chow.
  • Scott Harding caught his first touchdown of the season with a 20-yard reception from Ikaika Woolsey in the first quarter. He added a 24-yard reception in the third quarter.
  • Woolsey threw for multiple touchdowns for the first time in his career.
  • Junior defensive back Gaetano DeMattei made his first career start at nickelback and finished with six tackles. Sophomore safety Trayvon Henderson returned to the lineup after missing the last two games.
  • Darrick Dillard’s 141 rushing yards were the most by an opposing running back this season.
  • UH forced three turnovers—two on defense and one on special teams. UH has forced multiple turnovers in each of the last four games.
