UH had won both meetings against a nationally ranked  Fresno State team (38-34 vs. #18 FS in 2001 in Honolulu and 32-29 in OT vs. #22 FS in 2008 in Fresno).

Fresno State has won four of the last five meetings, including the last three in Honolulu (2009, ’11 and ‘13). Fresno State leads the series 24-21-1, while UH still leads 14-12 in Honolulu.

The last time UH started 0-4 was in 2000 when the team finished 3-9.

Jordan Pu‘u Robinson made his first career start at tight end and had one catch for nine yards before being sidelined for the rest of the game after UH’s second series.

Chris Gant became the first UH player to go over 100 yards receiving since Billy Ray Stutzmann had 136 yards in a loss to Fresno State in 2011. Gant finished with  four receptions for 133 yards.

Schroeder’s 60-yard connection with Gant in the third quarter was a career long for both players.

After missing the first three games of the season, senior wide receiver Billy Ray Stutzmann saw his first action of the year. His first quarter catch extended his streak to 24 straight games with a catch. He later caught a 35-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with three catches for 46 yards and one touchdown.

Tyler Hadden’s 48-yard field goal in the second quarter was one yard short of his career long.

Three of UH’s four opponents have scored defensive touchdowns, following  L.J. Jones 56-yard interception return in the third quarter.

Vasquez Haynes scored his first career touchdown on a 16-yard reception from Sean Schroeder in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with 64 yards on five catches.

Art Laurel recorded his second career interception with a third-quarter pick of Derek Carr.
