Post-Game Notes
Hawai‘i vs. Nevada
Sept. 22, 2012

Saturday’s contest marked the inaugural Mountain West Conference game for both teams.

Nevada defeated UH for the first time in its last eight tries in Honolulu. UH had won the last seven meetings between the teams in Honolulu, including all six conference match-ups. The last time Nevada defeated UH in Honolulu was in 1948.

The 69 points is the most UH has given up at Aloha Stadium and the most in home game since giving up 74 to Stanford in 1950.

The 45-point margin of defeat was tied for the largest home conference loss (54-9 vs. Boise State, 2009)

It was UH’s second largest margin of defeat (45 points) versus the Wolf Pack. Nevada defeated UH 73-12 (61 points) in 1948.

The 355 yards rushing by Nevada was the most by a UH opponent since Fresno State rushed for 503 yards in 2004.

UH dropped to 13-21 all-time in conference openers and lost its first conference opener since 2009.

UH has lost its last three conference home games dating back to last year.

Junior tight end Ryan Hall caught his first career touchdown from Sean Schroeder with a 19-yard reception in the second quarter.

Hall was the first Warrior tight end to catch a touchdown pass since Derek Zoller in a 1998 loss to BYU.

Nevada’s Stefphon Jefferson scored seven touchdowns, tying an NCAA record for most touchdowns by a player against a major college opponent.  It was also a Mountain West record and the most touchdowns by a UH opponent in the Division I era.

John Hardy-Tulia blocked a kick for the second straight game when he stuffed Allen Hardison’s extra point attempt in the second quarter. It was the seventh career block for the junior safety, who also blocked a punt in last week’s win over Lamar.

Jeremiah Ostrowski scored his first touchdown of the season and sixth of his career with a 36-yard catch from Sean Schroeder in the second quarter.

Redshirt freshman Will Gregory scored his first career touchdown with a 4-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.

Mike Edwards racked up a career high 199 in kickoff return yards, including three returns of 40 yards or longer.

UH allowed a team to rush for more than 100 yards for the first time this season as Nevada finished with 355 yards on the ground.

The 575 total yards by Nevada were the most by a UH opponent since Boise State put up 737 yards in 2010.

Sophomore running back John Lister, sophomore Trevor Davis and senior wide receiver Jermiah Ostrowski each made their first starts of the season.

Sophomore running back Joey Iosefa missed his first start in the last 11 games dating back to last year.
