Post Game Notes
New Mexico State at Hawai`i
Nov. 14, 2009

UH improved to 6-0 all-time against New Mexico State and 5-0 since the Aggies joined the Western Athletic Conference. All wins have come by double digits.

The Warriors won back-to-back games for the first time since the opening two games of the season.

Since 2006, UH is 12-1 during the month of November, with its only loss to Utah State (Nov. 1) last season.

Junior wide receiver Greg Salas set a new school record with 16 receptions. Salas set the record midway through the fourth quarter on a 6-yd pass from Shane Austin. Davone Bess held the old record with 15 catches vs. Boise State in 2007.

Salas’ 196 yards eclipsed his career-high of 195 set earlier this year at Washington State. Salas went for over 100 yards receiving for the second straight game and seventh time in 10 games this season.

Salas also extended his streak to 24 consecutive games with a reception dating back to last season.

The UH defense shutout an opponent’s offense for the first time since a 24-0 win at Idaho in 2005, a span of 58 games.

The last time UH shutout an opponent in the first half was the 2007 season opener vs. Northern Colorado. The last time UH held an opponent scoreless in a half was versus Weber State (second half) in the 2008 home opener.

The 244 yards allowed by the UH defense was a season-low and the least amount of yards allowed since a 24-10 win over Washington State (196 yards) last year.

Junior Mana Silva recorded his team-high fifth interception of the season with a pick of Jeff Fleming in the second quarter. It was the second straight game Silva recorded an interception.

Senior Blaze Soares recorded his first career interception with his third-quarter pick of Jeff Fleming.

Davon House 58-yard interception return with 1:13 left in the quarter was the first defensive touchdown that UH has surrendered this year.

It was the first interception return for a touchdown by a UH opponent since Florida did it twice in the 2008 season opener.

Senior John Estes made his 51st straight start dating back to his freshman season.

Junior Jake Heun made his second career start and first at linebacker. His first start came earlier this year at defensive end versus UNLV.

Junior placekicker converted a field goal (38 yards in the second quarter) for the first time since UH’s game at Idaho on Oct. 17. He had missed three straight attempts.

Leon Wright-Jackson scored multiple touchdowns for the second straight game. He has found the end zone five times in the last two contests.

UH has committed at least one turnover in 34 straight games. The last time that UH went turnover-free in a game was at UNLV on Sept. 15, 2007.

The Warriors next home game is on Nov. 28 when they play Navy.
