KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished the final round of the Amer Ari Intercollegiate with a 291 Saturday at Mauna Lani Resort's North Course.
 
The Rainbow Warriors completed the three-day event with an 874 total and 20^th place finish.
 
Fifth-ranked Auburn went wire-to-wire to capture its first Amer Ari title with a 77-under 787 total after a final round 258. Texas finished runner-up at 800 followed by Arizona State (806), Texas Tech (807), and Stanford (808).
 
Individually, Auburn's Jackson Koivun captured medalist honors at 25-under 191 while teammate Cayden Pope was five shots back to finished in second place at 196.
 
Nathan Szpakowicz and James Whitworth were UH's top finishers at 2-over 218 and a tie for 90^th place. Szpakowicz posted a final round 1-under 71 while Whitworth carded 74. Dane Watanabe also posted 74 and finished at 4-over 220 and 97^th place.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Warriors were Alec Hilgers (76=224, t-108^th) and Chris Salem (72=224, t-108^th) while Cameron Combado (80=236, 120^th) and Quinn Murray (78=240, 121^st) competed as individuals.
 
The Rainbow Warriors will next host the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Thursday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 14 at Ocean Course at Hokuala. The 49^th annual event is the seventh-longest collegiate tournament in the country.
