STANFORD, Calif. – For the second straight day, the third-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team dominated No. 18 Stanford in straight sets with a 25-17, 25-16. 25-13 victory, Saturday at Maples Pavilion in a match that lasted only 77 minutes.
The Rainbow Warriors (12-1) avenged last year's loss to the Cardinal in Honolulu and will carry a nine-match win streak when they return to Honolulu to face No. 7 BYU for a two-match series, Feb. 25 and 27. UH has now won 14 of the last 15 against the Cardinal dating back to 2017.
Kainoa Wade led the way offensively with 15 kills, hitting .737 with only one attack error in 19 attempts. The Kailua, O'ahu native also added two digs, one service ace, and two blocks. In the two matches, Wade totaled 27 kills with only three errors in 36 attempts for a .667 hitting percentage.
Louis Sakanoko added 12 kills, two digs, and four blocks while
Adrien Roure recorded seven kills and eight digs.
The Warriors hit .442 for the match with
Tread Rosenthal directing the offense which hit .474 in the two matches. He finished with 37 assists, one ace, and four digs.
Quintin Greenidge tallied a match-high 12 digs while middles
Justin Todd (6K, 4B) and
Trevell Jordan (5K, 3B) combined for 11 kills and seven blocks.
Theo Snoey led the Cardinal (3-8) with eight kills on .294 hitting, adding four digs. As a team, Stanford hit .164 for the match.
UH won its sixth straight over the Cardinal in Stanford, Calif., with its third two-match sweep since 2020. Hawai'i will take the next week off before returning to Honolulu to begin a seven-match homestand.
