TULSA, Okla.--University of Hawai'i men's tennis player, 65th-ranked
Azuma Visaya fought hard, but fell in straight sets ending in a second set tiebreaker to 57th-ranked Vlad Breazu of Oregon in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) All-American Championships Main Draw Round of 64 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Wednesday morning.
Visaya fought his way back to overcome a slow start in Set 1. He started executing his game plan efficiently but faltered on a few key points which allowed Breazu to hold off Visaya by a break in the first set. Visaya however took his momentum from the first set into the second and jumped out to a 5-2 lead and was serving for set point before Breazu was able to rally his way back to edge out Visaya in a game ending tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6 (0).
Visaya will next take on 51st-ranked Bryce Nakashima of Ohio State on Thursday in the ITA All-American main draw consolation round (time to be announced).
