HONOLULU – In an effort to help and make a difference within the state of Hawai'i and on campus, the University of Hawai'i Athletics Department will partner with the Hawai'i Foodbank and the university's Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success, for a three-day food drive centered around UH sporting events to help residents and students in need, who have recently been affected due to the government shutdown.
"We know cheering on our teams creates joy for fans," Athletics Director
Matt Elliott said. "But there are times, like now, where we can play another important role in our community. Many of our friends within our state and on campus are being affected by the shutdown and we want to do our part to help. We've said it and we'll continue to live it, this is "Our Team, Hawai'i's Team," and we'll always be here to help."
