SERIES VS WYOMING

            In Laramie: WYO leads 9-4

GAME STORYLINES
  • For the second consecutive week and third time in the last four games, Hawai'i will play a rivalry trophy game, this time against Wyoming for the Paniolo Trophy.
  • Wyoming currently owns possession of the trophy after winning the last two in the series — 2022 in Honolulu and 2023 in Laramie.
  • The Paniolo Trophy was established in 1979 and was played annually until 1997 while the schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference. The rivalry was renewed in 2013 when the schools met for the first time as Mountain West members.
  • UH will have played all four of its rivalry trophy games this season with a win over Air Force for the Kuter Trophy and losses to San Jose State and UNLV for the Dick Tomey Legacy Trophy and Island Showdown Trophy, respectively.
  • This week's match-up is the 29th all-time meeting between the teams with Wyoming holding a 17-11 advantage, including 8-7 in games played in Honolulu.
  • The teams have played eight times in Mountain West play with the Cowboys winning five of those games.
  • Hawai'i has won its last seven Senior Night games and 12 of its last 13 dating back to 2012. During its seven-game win streak, five were decided by one score including the last four (50-45 vs. CSU, 2021; 31-25 vs. UNLV, 2022; 27-24 vs. CSU, 2023; 38-30 vs. UNM, 2024).
  • UH (7-4, 4-3 MW) is coming off a 38-10 loss to UNLV last week in Las Vegas. The Warriors were held to their second-lowest offensive output of the season and season-lows in total offense (231), passing yards (163), pass attempts (24), pass completions (15) and first downs (12).
  • PK Kansei Matsuzawa is a perfect 23-for-23 in field goal attempts this season and needs two more makes without a miss to tie Washington's Chuck Nelson, whose FBS record of 25 consecutive field goals to start a season has stood since 1982. In addition, Matsuzawa's overall consecutive streak of 24 dating back to last season is two shy of the Mountain West record of 26 set by San Diego State's Gabriel Plasencia earlier this season.
  • Wyoming (4-7, 2-5) suffered its third consecutive loss after falling to Nevada, 13-7 in Laramie. During its three-game skid, the Cowboys have scored 17 total points while averaging 196.3 yards per game.
