Logan Taylor was selected to the Watch List for a pair of national awards – Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year and William V. Campbell Trophy.
Taylor is among a group of 52 nominees for the 2024 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year and one of a record 203 semifinalists, including 95 in the Football Bowl Subdivision, for the 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy.
The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award, presented by Albertsons and Tom Thumb, is the first college football honor to focus primarily on a player's leadership, both on and off the field. It is named in honor of Jason Witten, who not only was one the best tight ends in the history of the sport but also served as one of football's most prominent role models during his 16-year pro career.
The William V. Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. Named in honor of the late Bill Campbell, who became one of our country's most influential business leaders, playing critical roles in the success of Apple, Google, Intuit and countless other high-tech companies.
Taylor, a sixth-year senior from Harbor City, Calif., is UH's inspirational and spiritual leader. He is a two-time team captain, three-time Mountain West scholar-athlete, and two-time academic all-conference honoree, who has been named to the Dean's list six times. He double-majored in human development and family studies and interdisciplinary studies. Taylor was the team's leading tackler in 2022 and was primed for a breakout season in 2023 before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the third game of the season.
Off the field, Taylor recently became a campus missionary and occasionally preaches Sunday services at his church Grace Bible Church Honolulu during the offseason. He is active in the community as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and represents the team at numerous community service events and elementary school visits.
