HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football team celebrated the 2024 season with the Alec Waterhouse Memorial Awards Banquet, Sunday, at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i.
The Rainbow Warriors (5-7) closed out the season last Saturday with a 38-30 victory over New Mexico at Ching Complex.
The Alec Waterhouse Most Valuable Player award went to cornerback
Cam Stone, a senior from Angleton, Texas who is rated among the nation's top cornerbacks by Pro Football Focus. Stone started all 12 games for the Warriors this season and finished with team-highs of two interceptions and eight pass breakups along with 38 total tackles, including 3.0 for loss, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick.
The June Jones Offensive Most Valuable Player award recipient was offensive lineman
Ka'ena Decambra, who started all 12 games at left tackle and was the team's highest graded lineman according to PFF. In addition, the Wai'anae, O'ahu native was the second-highest graded left tackle in the Mountain West allowing only three sacks and four quarterback hits this season.
The Bob Wagner Defensive Most Valuable Player award went to defensive lineman
Elijah Robinson, who started all 12 games at end. The Wilmington, N.C., native led the team with 10.5 tackles-for-loss and shared team-high honors with five sacks while also finishing third on the team with 51 total tackles. He ranked in the Top 10 in the conference among edge defenders in defensive grade according to PFF.
The Dick Tomey Special Teams Most Valuable Player award was presented to punter
