FAIRFAX, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in a tie for 13
th place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational following Tuesday's final round at the Meadow Club.
The Rainbow Warriors shot 283 to finish with a 13-under 839 total which is the third lowest 54-hole score in program history. The score was four strokes off of the all-time school mark of 835 set last season at the Kapolei Invitational.
UH, which had set a new single-round record in Monday's first round, was led by
Tyler Ogawa who posted a 2-under 69 to finish 5-under 208 and a tie for 41
st place. His 54-hole is the best of his career and marked the first time he finished a tournament under par.
James Whitworth carded a final round 75 and finished 2-under 211 and a tie for 55
th place.
Dane Watanabe shot even par 72 and tied for 59
th place at 212.
Josh Hayashida posted 1-under 70 and tied for 65
th at 213 while
Garrett Takeuchi carded 73 for a 215 total and a tie for 73
rd place.
San Jose State set a new tournament record with a 56-under 796 total to edge Pacific by one stroke for the team title. SJSU's Zubair Firdaus also record a new tournament record at 23-under 190 to claim medalist honors.
Tyler Ogawa put together rounds of 69 and 70 and is tied for 42
nd at 3-under 139.
Dane Watanabe is 1-under and tied for 54
th followed by
Garrett Takeuchi (142; t-61
st) and
Josh Hayashida (143; t-67
th).
The Rainbow Warriors return to the islands to close out the fall season with the Kapolei Invitational (Oct. 29-31) and Kā'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational (Nov. 2-4).
