HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i women's golf head coach Julie Brooks announced the addition of transfer Varnika Achanta for the 2024 spring season.
Achanta, a transfer from the University of Cincinnati, will have four seasons of eligibility remaining.
"I am excited to have Varnika join the team. She is a great player and will help our team so much," Brooks said. "She had a very successful junior career and I look forward to watching her game progress over the next few years."
Achanta, a San José, Calif., native, spent the fall season at Cincinnati before deciding to transfer. She is a graduate of Valley Christian High School in San José, where she was a four-time, first-team all-league honoree and played at the No. 1 position all four years. She guided her squad to the state championships for two straight years, where they finished third both times.
Achanta was an accomplished junior golfer where she placed among the Top 10 in 15 different AJGA tournaments, including three top five finishes. She was recognized as the Junior Golf Association of Northern California's Girls Player of the Year in 2018.
Achanta's brother, Aashish, played golf at the University of Texas at Dallas.
