HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (0-1) fell to SMU (1-0) to open their 2024 season on Sunday at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Mustangs rolled to a 7-0 win over the Rainbow Warriors, but in the loss, UH's Karl Collins made a strong return to the courts after sitting out the Fall season. After dropping the first set, Collins fought back and had a set point 5-3 in the second frame, but 98th-ranked Jerry Barton battled back to win in two, 6-1, 7-5.

Sunday was originally going to be a scrimmage day between the two squads. But expected inclement weather for Monday forced the match to be played on Sunday instead. The two teams will scrimmage on Monday, weather permitting, at 10:00 a.m. HT.
