Ilagan To Compete In Second-Straight NCAA Men's Singles Championship

ORLANDO, Fla.—University of Hawai'i men's tennis player, 65th-ranked Andre Ilagan will compete in his second-straight NCAA Men's Singles Championship on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.. Ilagan, who finished the regular season ranked No. 65, will take on 44th-ranked Patrick Maloney of Michigan. The NCAA singles tournament features 64 of the nation's top competitors and runs from May 22-27.

Ilagan is the only Rainbow Warrior to ever qualify for the NCAA tournament twice. He remains just one of two UH men's tennis players to compete in the Championship. For the second-straight season, Ilagan earned the Big West's automatic bid as the highest ranked player in the league at the end of the season. The first UH player to compete at the NCAA men's singles tournament was Andreas Weber, who earned an at-large bid in 2007 when UH was still a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
