HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i head coach Timmy Chang announced several more additions to the 2023 football signing class bringing the total to 30 which includes 26 from December's early signing period. Among the four new signees on Wednesday include three prep standouts and one junior college transfer. Three play on the defensive side of the ball and one is listed as an athlete.
Among the Class of 2023…
- 20 signees are on the defensive side of the ball
- 12 states are represented including eight from the hometown state of Hawai'i
- Three international signees – one each from American Samoa, England, and Australia
- 12 signees play in the trenches – eight on the defensive line and four on the offensive line
- Five offensive skill positions, nine defensive backs, and three linebackers
Georgia native
Deliyon Freeman picked up football in his junior year of high school at East Coweta High, where he was a two-way player at receiver and cornerback. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder was timed at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash and projects to play cornerback at UH becoming the third at the position in the Class of 2023.
Safety
DaMarco Moorer of Riverside City College finished his junior college career as a first-team California Community College Athletic Association All-American. In two seasons at Riverside, the Moreno Valley, Calif., native totaled 12 interceptions and 94 tackles which included a three-pick game against Long Beach City College this past season.
Three-star prospect
Domata Peko Jr., also played two sides of the ball at Calabasas High in California. During his senior season, he recorded nine sacks and 15 tackles for loss and was a first-team all-league selection. He is the son of Domata Peko, a 15-year NFL defensive lineman.
The eighth signee in the class from the state of Hawai'i is Mililani High's
Ezekiel Rodrigues, who was a second-team all-state performer in his only season with the Trojans. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety had 12 tackles and an interception in the state semifinal game against Punahou.
