BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (17-6, 10-2 Big West) swept Cal State Bakersfield, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 at The Icardo Center on Saturday afternoon. The win extended Hawai'i's win streak to a season-long five matches with its fourth-straight three-set win. For the second-straight match, UH's middle blockers were solid, putting down a combined 23 kills for a .391 hitting percentage.

Senior Amber Igiede recorded a match-high 16 kills—seven coming in the third set alone—and was tied with a match-high three blocks (two solo). With 1,247 career kills, Igiede rose to No. 14 on UH's career kills list passing former UH All-American Karrie Trieschmann's 1,221 kills. A day after hitting a career-high .600 at CSUN, senior Kennedi Evans raised her career-high to .636 with seven kills and no errors in 11 attacks. Evans also added two blocks and two digs.

With setters Kate Lang and Jackie Matias at the controls of the offense, UH hit over .300 for the fourth consecutive match. Lang issued 27 assists with three digs, while Matias dished out a career-high 11 assists with a kill. Both dealt out a pair of service aces. Riley Wagoner added seven kills with 10 digs and two blocks.

Fourteen players saw action for Hawai'i with nine posting at least one kill and nine notching at least one dig.

All three sets against the Roadrunners (6-18, 2-10 BW) were close early on, but the Rainbow Wahine found ways to pull away for Hawai'i's 13th sweep of the season.

In Set 1, CSUB took an early 4-3 lead but Hawai'i responded with an 8-to-1 run, four coming while Igiede was serving. Hawai'i would lead by as many as 12 at 23-11, but the 'Runners rallied to score five of the next six points. Hawwai'i would prevail, 25-16 to take a 1-0 set lead.

The second set was a battle with 13 ties and nine lead changes. Neither team led by more than three points through the halfway point of the frame. With Cal State Bakersfield leading 16-15, UH made a double-sub with Matias coming in to set and Kendra Ham playing at opposite. Hawai'i proceeded to reel off five-consecutive points with Paula Guersching behind the service line as UH leapfrog into a four point lead, 20-16. Later, while Igiede was serving, the 'Bows won the final five points on five-straight UH kills by five different players—Guersching, Matias, Evans, Ham and Wagoner—to take Set 2, 25-18.

UH began the final set with an early 5-1 lead, but the Roadrunners would tie it at 8-8 on a 4-1 run of their own. CSUB held a 14-12 lead, but back-to-back Igiede kills followed by kills by Tali Hakas and Wagoner put UH into the lead for good. Hawai'i scored the final four-straight points—ending on a pair of Stella Adeyemi kills as UH sealed the sweep winning Set 3, 25-19.
