KĀ'ANAPALI, Maui – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team posted a program-best 54-hole score of 16-under par 836 at the Kā'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational following Saturday's final round at the Royal Kā'anapali.
Over the three -day tournament, the Rainbow Warriors set team scoring records for single-round, 36-holes, and 54-holes while finishing in ninth place in the 20-team field. Individually, four UH golfers finished the tournament under par led by
Blaze Akana's 5-under 208, which tied for 30
th place.
Oklahoma and East Tennessee State shared the team title at 42-under 810 after each carded 271 on Saturday. The title was OU's fourth Kā'anapali Classic crown and first for ETSU. Liberty (813) took third place followed by North Florida (816) and San Jose State (816).
OU's Luke Kluver fired a 7-under 64 to claim medalist honors at 18-under 195, three strokes ahead of ETSU's Mats Ege (198).
UH's
Garrett Takeuchi shot a final round 3-under 68 for a 4-under 209 total and a tie for 40
th along with
Josh Hayashida, who scrambled for a 3-over 74 on Saturday.
Kolbe Irei also shot 74 and finished the tournament at 1-under 212 and tie for 58
th.
Dane Watanabe battled back after two disappointing rounds with a 1-over 72 to finish at 225 and a tie for 108
th.

th).
UH wraps up the fall season by hosting the inaugural Kapolei Invitational next week in west O'ahu. The 19-team tournament runs Tuesday, Oct. 31 through Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Kapolei Golf Club.
