Haire Goes for 18 as Hawai‘i Passes By CSUN, 76-60

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team bounced back Monday in part to graduate guard McKenna Haire having a career night with 18 points for a 76-60 victory on the road at CSUN inside Premier America Credit Union Arena.

The Rainbow Wahine (6-9, 4-2) picked up their third conference road win and fourth in five games overall. The Matadors (4-13, 3-4) have dropped four consecutive Big West matchups after winning their first three of the season.

A 16-4 run to end the first quarter got the 'Bows going in the right direction early as Haire stayed on a hot streak from beyond the arc following her previous career-high of 15 points against Long Beach State on Saturday. Haire dropped two threes in the first quarter to add to the run and come away with a 24-13 advantage.

The bench production stayed consistent as sophomore forward Daejah Phillips started the game from the sidelines, adding 10 points in the first half as UH maintained a comfortable lead at the half, 44-36.

UH kept its lead throughout the final two quarters, as CSUN could only get within five in the fourth quarter at 58-53 with 9:39 on the clock. The 'Bows followed it up by outscoring CSUN 18-7 to end the game.

Haire's big night was partly due to her outside shooting, as she hit a career-high six three-pointers while going 6-of-8 from long distance. Adding to the offensive push from the bench was Phillips, as she added 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Sophomore guard Lily Wahinekapu found her mark with 16 points while dishing out six assists.

UH turned in its most productive game of the season offensively, tallying a season-high in points, shooting percentage from the floor (57%), and three-point territory (57%). UH dominated from the bench, outscoring CSUN 44-11.

The 'Bows will return home with a short layoff and play again on Thursday against conference-leading UC Irvine, followed by a matchup with UC Riverside on Saturday.
