HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i golfer
Blaze Akana completed his first professional tournament with a 3-over 143 total at the Sony Open in Hawai'i following Friday's second round at the Wai'alae Country Club.
The sophomore from Honolulu carded rounds of 71 and 72 and missed the cut. He currently sits in a tie for 115
th place in the 144-player field.
Akana completed his opening round on Friday morning after darkness suspended play while wrapping up his finishing holes on Thursday. The Kamehameha Schools-Kapālama alum posted four birdies and five bogeys in each of his rounds.
Akana is the first UH golfer to compete in the Sony Open since David Saka in 2011. TJ Kua also competed in the tournament in 2010. Both Akana and Kua shot 143.
