BeachBows Add Another Aussie Signee

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i beach volleyball team has added another piece to its recruiting class with the signing of international standout Sarah Burton. The 6-1 native of Perth, Australia will join the team this fall and will have four years of eligibility.

Burton joins Jesse Mann, who committed last fall, as the first Australian players in program history to sign with the BeachBows. Burton, who graduated from Pernous College this past December, has earned a top-10 national ranking and has won medals in multiple circuits, including the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour (ABVT).

"Sarah is an outstanding all-around volleyball player," head coach Evan Silberstein said. "She is versatile, powerful and skillful. She's a great addition to our beach program and we're all excited to welcome her to Mānoa this fall."

Burton is also currently training with the Australian Senior National Indoor Team. Last year she left her native Perth to join the Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA) in Canberra, the nation's capital. As part of the Australian Institute of Sport, the  AVA is designed to identify and develop Olympic potential athletes for both indoor and beach volleyball.
