Warriors Picked Sixth In West Division

LAS VEGAS – The University of Hawai'i football team was picked to finish sixth in the West Division in the Mountain West's preseason poll that was released on the opening day of the league media days at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.
 
In a panel of the league's media, the Rainbow Warriors,  who tied for fourth place in the West last season with a 3-5 mark, received 51 total points. Fresno State was selected as the 2022 West Division favorite with 160 points and 20 first place votes followed by defending division champion San Diego State (148 points, 8 first place votes). San Jose State (105), Nevada (66) and UNLV (58) were also selected in front of UH.
 
In the Mountain Division, Boise State received 14 first-place votes and 151 points, followed by Air Force (136 points, 10 first-place votes), Utah State (122, 3 votes), Colorado State (90, 1 vote), Wyoming (60), and New Mexico (29).
 
The two divisional winners will meet in the MW Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 3. Following this season, the conference's two-division format will be eliminated. Starting in 2023, the top two teams with the highest conference winning percentage will compete in the MW Football Championship Game.

The preseason all-conference team will be announced on Thursday.
