Glagau And Van Sickle Gain Big West Honors For Fourth Time

IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i beach volleyball players Kaylee Glagau and Brooke Van Sickle were named the Big West Pairs Team of the Week for the third consecutive week and for a UH record fourth time this season following another stellar weekend against nationally-ranked competition.

Since joining the Big West in beach volleyball in 2016, three other UH pairs have earned the distinction three times in one season. However Glagau and Van Sickle became the first UH pair to earn the weekly nod four times. Only one other pair – Emily Sonny and Macy Gordon of Cal Poly in 2021 – have accomplished that feat in conference history.

Glagau and Van Sickle did so by going  a perfect 4-0 on the weekend at the top flight, notching two wins apiece against No. 6 Loyola Marymount and No. 7 Grand Canyon. They dropped just one set all weekend while winning three of their matches in straight sets. On Saturday, they scored the tying point in UH's 3-2 dual win over No. 6 LMU. The pair has now won 16 of their last 18 matches and own a team-best 23-7 mark while playing exclusively at the No. 1 flight. They are 10-2 in their last 12 matches against ranked opponents with seven of the wins against top-10 competition.

The No. 8 Rainbow Wahine (18-13) will next head to the Pacific Northwest for the Husky Invitational, April 16-17. UH will face Oregon, Portland and host Washington n the tournament held at Alki Beach in Seattle.
